Keith Richards and Anita Pallenberg, La Joconde, Nellcôte, France, 1971 by Dominique Tarle

Keith Richards and Anita Pallenberg, La Joconde, Nellcôte, France, 1971 by Dominique Tarle

Dominique Tarlé was given intimate access to the Rolling Stones during their recording of Exile on Main St., and this black-and-white shot of a shirtless Keith Richards and girlfriend Anita Pallenberg is exemplary for its revealing and candid nature.

La Joconde is the French name for Leonardo da Vinci's iconic Mona Lisa painting, which has a long history of conjecture about her enigmatic expression. Perhaps it was Keith's soft smile as he leans his head to light a cigarette that inspired this title.

Dominique Tarlé first began offering his fine-art photographs of the Rolling Stones during their time in France in 2001, when his beautiful limited-edition book "EXILE" was published.

His black-and-white images are printed as beautiful silver gelatins (unless otherwise noted). The color images are digital C-type prints.

Each photograph is available in several sizes, each in a very limited quantity:
